Meredith Odom creates Southwest Gourd Art with Native American themes. Most recently, she has begun to focus primarily on themes taken from the portraits of legendary Indian chiefs and warriors of the Southwest and the Northern plains. Each piece is a unique portrayal, using only natural materials and adornments; no two are alike. She has incorporated many different techniques such as wood-burning, leather and ink dyes, jewel and stone inlays, various kinds of antlers, feathers, African porcupine quills and horsehair.
